Electrification offers the ability to shift to renewable sources of energy over time which will help Cincinnati meet our bold carbon neutrality goal by 2050. Electrifying our buildings reduces carbon emissions even if the electricity is generated using a mix of fossil fuels.
A Collaborative Effort to Accelerate Electrification
Electrify Cincy is a collaborative effort that supports Cincinnatians to accelerate the electrification of our homes and businesses to live even more stable, comfortable, and healthy lives. The primary focus of the effort is preparing our buildings with weatherization and electric capacity and exploring the transition of household appliances that provide heating, cooling, and cooking to electrified equipment like heat pumps and induction stoves

Electrification of 20,000 homes in Cincinnati by 2028!
The 2023 Green Cincinnati Plan aims to support the electrification of 20,000 homes in the City of Cincinnati by 2028.
62% of Cincinnati’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions come from buildings including our homes and businesses.
78% of GHG emissions in homes come from space heating and 18% come from water heating.
